Manchester City have been looking to bring in reinforcements into their side in the next season so as to start the new season on a strong note and make amends for the last season which has been rather disappointing from the Citizens’ point of view.
Pep Guardiola, their current manager, has been looking to turn things around in order to revamp his squad by showing the door to a number of veteran players including the likes of Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Willy Caballero and has already brought in two of the most highly rated players in European football in the current scenario, Bernardo Silva from French Ligue 1 champions, Monaco and goalkeeper Ederson from Portuguese Primeira Liga champions, Benfica as his side’s first summer signings.
The Spanish mastermind is looking for a proper player in the right back position, after ending the last season with his compatriot winger Navas playing as the stopgap right back. Now that he has also been released by the club, Guardiola has fixed his eyes on the out-of-favour right back from Tottenham, Kyle Walker, to bring him into the side for the next season.
The English international did not have the best of the seasons last term with the Spurs, having developed a tumultuous relationship with his current club coach Mauricio Pochettino that had led him to miss a number of matches in the latter part of the last season, despite the player being in a fully fit condition. This deterioration has reportedly irked the possibility of the influential right back to leave his current club and join another club in the next season, his most probable destination being Manchester City.
As per sources, the Spurs have put a huge price tag of £45 million on their prized possession, which might look to be too much to spend on a right back for a number of clubs. It has been cleared by the North London club that any interested party coming in for the coup of their prized player has to be able to splash out the cash as per the prescribed price.
Having already spent £80 million on the two initial signings in the season, the Citizens might not be willing to spend £45 million on the right back. Reportedly, they have turned their attention towards Dani Alves from Juventus, in order to bag the veteran Brazilian ace from the Italian outfit in the next season, who has been very influential for his current club to help them become the Italian Serie A champions.
