West Bromwich Albion have ended their season on a satisfactory note by finishing in the top half of the League table this term and are looking to build on their success for the next season. The Baggies are already eyeing a number of players to be brought into the team to revamp it for the next term, and one of the names right on the top of the list for West Brom is the Middlesbrough striker Alvaro Negredo.
Negredo has left his current club Middlesbrough given their relegation from top flight football but might look to extend his stay in the Premier League with clubs interested in buying him. The 31-year-old has been open about his desire to stay back in the Premier League after a fairly good outing with Boro in the recently concluded season.
The veteran striker was left on loan by his current club Valencia to join Middlesbrough after a not-so-good display in the last season in the Spanish La Liga. He turned the tide in his favour by scoring ten goals this season and has tried his level best to save the season for Middlesbrough but was not able to do so. He has now returned to Valencia for the time being, with an eye to make a comeback into the Premier League in the next season.
Negredo has a good experience of playing in the Premier League before as well and was a part of the title winning squad of Manchester City in the year 2014. However, he was left to go to his native country and join Valencia in the following year and returned for a second stint in the Premier League with Middlesbrough this term.
The player made an impact for his club and the Baggies boss Tony Pulis wants to build on that, as he looks to bring in players with experience to strengthen his squad for the next season. He is also in dire need of someone who will be able to guide the team efficiently after the departure of their inspirational captain Darren Fletcher, who left the team to join Stoke City on a two-year deal recently.
Pulis is concerned about the fire-power he has at his disposal and is willing to bring in someone like Negredo to boost his chances in the Premier League in the next season. The Baggies are well aware of the Spanish marksman’s love for the Premier League and are looking to capitalise on that this summer.
