Despite a promising start to the season, Bristol City have stagnated owing to their slump in form and they had to suffer another blow as Leeds United outclassed them in their latest outing. The Robins are in a haywire indeed and with Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers mounting pressure on them, the scenario isn’t very much in favour of Bristol City.
However, on-loan youngster from Chelsea- Tammy Abraham, has undoubtedly been the silver lining for Bristol City so far this campaign. The striker has banged goals left, right and centre this term and has impressed the football fraternity massively. In 30 appearances ever since his loan move to the Ashton Gate Stadium, Abraham has crafted 18 goals with a shot accuracy of 45%, created 29 chances and was the feeder on 2 occasions.
The starlet sustained a thigh injury against Leeds United and Bristol City, with their fingers crossed, are closely monitoring the situation. After the outings he has accumulated under his belt, Antonio Conte might be considering bringing Abraham back under his tutelage in the summer. In a situation like this which is expected to develop, should or should he not return to the Stamford Bridge?

Chelsea have shipped a record 38 players on loan in the summer of 2016 and we could sit and argue if their loan system makes sense. But let’s not forget that Abraham has been one of the most fruitful projects, courtesy of a loan deal and has been chiselled well by Lee Johnson. But then, Chelsea are miles ahead of a club loitering around the relegation zone of the Championship and thus, Abraham would be able to learn a word or two about the nous related to the game from some of the best faces.
The Champions League and the Premier League are dream-like experiences for any youngster and for Abraham it is no different. With the competition which he is likely to venture into if the Pensioners come calling for him, his own stature will improve. He has developed the instincts of a poacher, is young and his intrinsic value is only likely to get better with time. Who doesn’t like to be an important part of a side like Chelsea?

The curious case of a certain Romelu Lukaku, who went back to the Stamford Bridge after impressing during his loan spell, didn’t have a great time in a blue shirt. We aren’t counting out Abraham’s likelihood of getting acquainted with success should he move back to his parent club, but his age must be considered as well. Moreover, Conte prefers having one centre-forward and there is absolutely no dearth in their attacking arsenal at the moment.
To polish his rough edges, the youngster should be plying his trade week in and week out, but it is seemingly unlikely that he will be getting enough chances at Chelsea. Maybe one more loan spell might give him the edge and add to his confidence, which is needed to battle it out for a starting place under Conte’s regime. Besides, expectations at Chelsea are humungous, isn’t it? Will he be able to endure?
