According to TBR Football, Arsenal have been regularly scouting Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande. The Premier League club see him as a valuable purchase but acknowledges the high competition they would face from other clubs.
Ousmane Diomande is a promising talent
Ousmane Diomande started his career at Midtjylland but moved to Sporting CP in the winter of 2023. Since then, he has been climbing up the ladders pretty quickly. He is already a starter in the squad, showcasing his prominent talent.
Diomande showed a high level of displays last season where he featured in 38 games. He netted three goals and provided an assist in the process. He averaged 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, and 1.4 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Ivory Coast international is already showing a high level of maturity on the field. He is solid with his tackles, shot-blocking, and aerial domination. The centre-back is also extremely comfortable on the ball and possesses dribbling skills.
Ousmane Diomande can be a future star
Arsenal’s interest in a centre-back is quite interesting considering the fact that they already have a formidable backline. However, the long-term future of Jakub Kiwior is under the radar and the club can certainly use Ousmane Diomande as his replacement.
Diomande is already showing a high level of football at such an early stage. Should he continue to develop his game, he is bound to have a good future and find himself on the elite list. Notably, he has all the qualities to succeed in the Premier League.
Arsenal will try to sign the 20-year-old in the upcoming transfer windows. However, they are likely to face neck-to-neck competition from the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool. Several major European clubs are tracking the youngster’s progress very closely. Even Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Diomande before they went for Radu Dragusin.
