As per a report published by Football Insider, Liverpool new boss Arne Slot has expressed his demand of offloading Wataru Endo in the upcoming transfer windows and making a notable signing to strengthen the midfield unit.
Wataru Endo has fallen down the pack
Wataru Endo arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2023 when Jurgen Klopp was at the helm of affairs. While he featured regularly for the side, it’s fair to say that he has failed to do enough to solidify his spot as a starter in the squad.
Under Arne Slot, Endo’s role has been on a diminishing curve. While he got to play in 44 games last season, he has taken onto the field only on eight occasions this season so far. While he has no direct goal contribution and no impactful display, he will have to struggle for game time.
The Japanese is known for their defensive aspects of the game. He has ball-winning abilities in the middle of the park with his tackles and interceptions. He is excellent at distributing the ball and also marks an aerial domination.
Wataru Endo can attract interest from multiple clubs
Arne Slot has got off to a terrific start to his debut season at the Anfield. It’s evident that Liverpool will listen to his demands and welcome them with both hands.
Slot has already indicated his wish not to use Wataru Endo much, especially as a starter. The manager believes there are better players available in the squad. Moreover, he is also open to selling the 31-year-old and bringing an upgrade for him.
Considering Endo’s abilities and experience, many clubs would fancy their interest. However, it remains to be seen if the Reds can offload him in the winter window or not. Notably, they will also have to go after a replacement, which could be tough as most big signings take place in the summer window.
