Chelsea entertained Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge earlier this afternoon as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Blues made a decent start to the contest and grabbed the lead in the 18th minute thanks to Nicolas Jackson’s goal. However, Alexander Isak equalised for the visitors in the 32nd minute as the two teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Cole Palmer restored Chelsea’s lead in the 47th minute as Enzo Maresca’s men ended up securing a narrow 2-1 win in front of their home fans.

GK: Robert Sanchez – 6/10
He made a couple of solid stops at the back and did enough to keep a clean sheet in the second half.
RB: Malo Gusto – 6.5/10
Gusto was a positive influence at both ends of the field.
CB: Wesley Fofana – 6.5/10
He didn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and did enough to restrict the opposition from scoring more than one goal.
CB: Levi Colwill – 6.5/10
Colwill put his foot through the ball when he could and was tidy with his passing.
LB: Reece James – 7.5/10
James performed his defensive duties well and was a strong presence in the air.
CM: Moises Caicedo – 7.5/10
He anchored the midfield with conviction and made two good chances in the final third.
CM: Romeo Lavia – 7/10
Lavia earned possession back twice and was good on the ball.
RW: Noni Madueke – 6.5/10
He caused some problems for the opposition defenders but didn’t do enough to register a goal.
CAM: Cole Palmer – 8/10
Palmer managed to shine at times for his team and did well to score early in the second half which proved to be the match-winner.
LW: Pedro Neto – 8/10
He was a constant menace in the final third and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
ST: Nicolas Jackson – 7.5/10
Jackson made a few decent chances for others around him and scored the opener with a good finish in the 18th minute.

He added some pace to Chelsea’s attack.

Fernandez made one good chance in the final third.
