In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid could face stiff competition for Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis. It has been revealed that Los Blancos would have to rival Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona in the race to land the Brazilian teenager.
Reis’ Impressive Form In Brazilian Football
Reis came through the youth ranks of Palmeiras and did well to break out as a first-team starter for them last season. The Brazilian centre-back has already made 14 senior appearances for his current employers, scoring two goals across all fronts.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a good run of form this season as he is averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions and 3.6 clearances per 90 minutes in the Brasileirão. He has also been excellent when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass success rate of 91.9% in the top tier of Brazilian football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Palmeiras will run out at the end of 2028 which could make it difficult for Los Blancos to get a deal done for him next year.
Real Madrid Are Facing Stiff Competition For Reis: Is He Worth The Fight?
Reis is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot. The Brazilian whizkid is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his value at the highest level.
Reis is already good enough to serve as an important member of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. Hence, he would be well worth the fight. At 18, he has the potential to be a generational talent, so the Madrid giants should focus on getting a deal over the line for him in the January transfer window.
Reis has what it takes to help Los Blancos compete for a lot of major honours over the next decade. Thus, it makes sense for Ancelotti to try everything in his power to lure the talented defender to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next year.
