Liverpool Eyeing Move For This Borussia Monchengladbach Star: What Will He Bring?

Liverpool are have been quiet in the transfer window so far but are expected to pick up pace in the coming days. As they look to bolster the midfielder, the club have identified Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone as a viable target, as reported by Give Me Sport.

Manu Kone is a versatile midfielder

Manu Kone signed for Borussia Monchengladbach from Toulouse in the winter of 2021. As he was provided with opportunities, he managed to impress everyone with his displays. He has established himself as a reliable player in the squad.

Kone remained sidelined for many games last season due to an injury. He made an appearance in 25 games, netting two goals and as many assists. He averaged 2 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, and 0.7 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).

The French midfielder can feature in all the positions in the middle of the park. He can provide defensive solidity with his tackles and blocks. At the same time, he can be employed higher on the pitch to get involved directly in building attacks.

Liverpool are looking for a defensive midfielder

Liverpool have been linked with multiple defensive players over the past couple of months. The recent reports suggest that the club are keen on signing a defensive midfielder this summer. While there are many names on the list, Manu Kone is the latest name to be added to that.

The Reds were even linked to Kone last summer but a pre-season injury to the player changed the club’s mind. However, the English outfit is back with their interest in acquiring his services. Apart from them, Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the player.

Since the 23-year-old isn’t exactly a defensive midfielder, he can play that role with ease. It now depends on Liverpool boss Arne Slot to decide whether he wants Kone or prefers a readymade player for the concerned role. One has to wait to get all the answers.
