In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that West Ham United are facing tough competition for Juventus ace Matias Soule this off-season. It has been stated that the Hammers would have to rival Leicester City and AS Roma in the race to land the Argentine wide player in this summer transfer window.
Soule’s Decent Loan Spell At Frosinone
Soule had a fruitful loan spell at Frosinone last season when he put in a series of productive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The Argentine sensation banged in 11 goals and secured three assists in 39 matches for the Italian club last season across all competitions.
The 21-year-old was a reliable performer for Frosinone in the final third as he averaged 2.3 shots, 2.3 key passes, 0.8 crosses and 2.8 dribbles per game in Serie A football. He even distributed possession accurately in the opponent’s half after making 81.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Juventus will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for West Ham to win the race for his services on the cheap later this year.
West Ham United Are Facing Tough Competition For Soule: Is He Worth The Fight?
Soule is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range and can set up a few inviting chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the field.
The Argentine talent is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also function as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if West Ham manage to win the race for his services.
Soule would add more firepower to Julen Lopetegui’s attack. He is already good enough to fight for regular first-team football at the London Stadium in the coming years. At 21, he has the ceiling to be a world-class attacker someday. Hence, Soule would be well worth the fight, so Lopetegui should think about trying everything in his power to sign him soon.
