Premier League club Manchester United have joined the race to sign RB Leipzig attacker Dani Olmo in the summer transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The club find him as a viable addition to the offensive unit ahead of next season.
Given the Spanish player’s versatility and good track record, major clubs are interested in luring him away. The Red Devils will face neck-to-neck competition from Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Spanish Giants are monitoring his situation and may launch a move soon.
Dani Olmo is a proven player
Dani Olmo started his footballing career with Barcelona’s youth academy before moving to Dinamo Zagreb in search of game time. His impressive stint with the Croatian club earned him a reputation and later, he was signed by his current employers, RB Leipzig, in the winter of 2020.
Since then, Olmo’s career has skyrocketed and he has cemented his place in both club and national level. Despite fitness issues this season, he has registered seven goals and four assists in 19 games. He is averaging 1.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The 25-year-old is comfortable to play on both the flanks as well as in the attacking midfield position. He likes to play short passes and cut in towards goal to create threats. His quality passes and ability to finish strong make him a desirable offensive player.
Manchester United need a fresh attacker
Manchester United have realized that Antony and Jadon Sancho don’t have a future at Old Trafford. Both the attackers have failed to deliver up to the expectations and are likely to be offloaded soon. In such a case, the club will need to bring in a fresh attacking option.
The Red Devils believe the arrival of Dani Olmo will bolster the attacking unit as he is versatile and a proven player. He can play on the right flank and combine with other names to create goals for the team.
