Chelsea are in the hunt of signing exceptional talents to strengthen their unit ahead of next season. They have identified PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko as a valuable pick and have made him a priority for the summer transfer window, according to Sky Germany.
The Blues understand the Belgian’s potential and want to bet on him. However, the signing won’t be a piece of cake for them as Manchester City, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are also monitoring the attacker.
Johan Bakayoko is too good in the offense
Johan Bakayoko came through the ranks of PSV’s academy and made his senior team debut a couple of seasons ago. Realizing his true potential, the club started using him more often and now he has become an integral part of the side.
The 20-year-old has featured in 40 games this season so far, netting eight goals and providing 13 assists. He is averaging 2.8 shots, 2 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game. He has played as a right winger and right attacking midfielder, excelling in both (stats via whoscored).
Bakayoko is unbelievably good in the final third. He has great dribbling skills, pin-point passes and powerful long-shot ability. He is also solid at winning aerial duels and providing crosses into the box. Apart from all these, the youngster is a threat when it comes to taking set-pieces.
Will Chelsea make a move for Johan Bakayoko?
Johan Bakayoko’s commendable ability on the ball has attracted interest from major clubs across Europe. Chelsea’s alleged plan to sign him would be a great move. However, the player has no release clause on his contract, which will make the negotiations complicated.
Reportedly, the Dutch club want around £50 million for the winger. If the Blues manage to sign him, it would be their second signing from PSV in less than 15 months. They signed Noni Madueke in January last year and the investment has been yielding dividends as of now.
