West Ham United faced off against Freiburg at the Europa-Park Stadion earlier tonight as they hoped to pick up a victory in the UEFA Europa League. The Hammers made a solid start to the game and managed to get to the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Michael Gregoritsch finally broke the deadlock in the 81st minute as David Moyes’ men crashed to a narrow 1-0 loss away from home.

He made a few important saves at the back but won’t be happy about conceding a late goal.

Coufal cleared the danger when he could and made some good runs with the ball on the right flank.
CB: Konstantinos Mavropanos – 7/10
He gave a good account of himself on the defensive third of the pitch.
CB: Kurt Zouma – 6.5/10
Zouma put his foot through the ball when needed but could only manage to restrict the home team from scoring more than once tonight.
LB: Emerson Palmieri – 7/10
He did his fair share of defending but offered very little going forward.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 7/10
Soucek anchored the midfield well and engineered one decent chance in the opponent’s half.
CM: Edson Alvarez – 6.5/10
He did his fair share of defending and made a couple of good runs with the ball from midfield.
RW: Mohammed Kudus – 7/10
Kudus caused some headaches for the Freiburg defenders but failed to find the back of the net.
CAM: James Ward-Prowse – 6.5/10
He caught the eye at times but never looked like he would score.
LW: Lucas Paqueta – 5.5/10
Paqueta was quiet for most of the game and was replaced in the 90th minute.
ST: Jarrod Bowen – 7/10
Bowen caused a lot of problems for his marker but there was no goal for him tonight.
