Manchester City received a knock-out punch on their belly at the Goodison Park at the hands of Everton. Not for once did Guardiola’s defensive line looked worthy enough, as they succumbed to Ronald Koeman’s rampaging army by four goals without any reply. The humiliating loss means City are now ten points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, thus denting their chances of winning the title.
Manchester City Player Ratings From Their Horrendous Loss Against Everton
Claudio Bravo: 4/10
As much as Bravo was responsible for leaking goals, Guardiola’s defence was equally responsible for letting Everton attack the goalkeeper. Conceded four goals today and let’s not forget to mention that the fourth goal made him look like a laughing stock.
Bacary Sagna: 6/10
The former Arsenal right-back was one of the better players from City’s shambolic game. Sagna was defensively capable and did try to get forward to bolster his side’s attacking pursuits.
John Stones: 3/10
What is sad to see in John Stones ever since his big-money move to Manchester City is that despite having truckloads of potential, he fails to deliver.
He was clueless and lacked any sort of positional sense and was thus humiliated by the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas.
Gaël Clichy: 3/10
Another massive letdown from the loss, Clichy’s defending abilities were in shambles as it appeared completely ragged and exploited. Frankly speaking, he was an embarrassment more than anything else for Guardiola’s side.
Nicolás Otamendi: 5/10
It would be wrong to say that Otamendi didn’t toil hard in the game. However, the Argentine went missing many times and had little answer to Lukaku’s flamboyance.
