Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on his players after Arsenal thrashed Swansea 4-0 in the Premier League. The win took them to the third until they were displaced by Liverpool who drew their game against Manchester United.

Olivier Giroud scored the opener with a swift finish. The Frenchman has now scored a goal each in his last four matches. Jack Cork and Kyle Naughton both scored an own goal to pile further misery on new boss Paul Clement. Alexis Sanchez added a fourth to seal the match.

The win will certainly give a huge sigh of relief to Arsene Wenger whose own future is hanging in balance. The French gaffer is in his last season and contract and talks haven’t been initiated yet.

Wenger said, “The first half was very intense physically, they gave a lot in the first half and then our pace took over. They had problems to contain us.

“Swansea were very well organised and they closed down as a unit very well. We lost balls in the first 20-25 minutes which was down to them.

“In the second half, you could see we could create chances. Our transition and accuracy of passing was very good. We were fortunate with the goals, but the chances were there.”
