Chelsea locked horns with Liverpool at Wembley Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a good result in the Carabao Cup final. The Blues made a solid start to the game and managed to get to the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
The West London club defended well in the second half as the contest finished with a goalless scoreline after 90 minutes.
Chelsea ended up conceding the opening goal in the 118th minute when Virgil Van Dijk found the back of the net with a solid header. The match finished with Mauricio Pochettino’s men suffering a tough 1-0 loss after extra-time.

He did his fair share of defending and made one key chance in the final third.
RW: Cole Palmer – 7/10
Palmer got himself into some dangerous areas in the Liverpool half but there was no goal for him.
CAM: Conor Gallagher – 7.5/10
He worked hard defensively and was a real menace on the offensive end of the field. However, there was no goal for him this evening.

Sterling struggled to get into the flow of the game and was replaced in the 66th minute.

He made two encouraging runs with the ball but never looked like he would score.
