In a recent report, TuttoJuve mentioned that Aston Villa are among the clubs hoping to sign AS Roma forward Paulo Dybala. It has been stated that the Villans could face competition in the form of Chelsea and Newcastle United in the race to land the Argentine talent this January.
Dybala’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season
Dybala is having a decent campaign at the Italian club as he has produced a handful of productive displays for them in the final third. The 30-year-old has banged in six goals and secured six assists in 18 matches for Roma this season in multiple competitions.
The Argentine sensation has caught the eye with his contributions in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.5 shots, 2.1 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even distributed possession accurately in the attacking end of the field as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 83.3% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, the Villans will have to launch a convincing offer if they want to recruit Dybala before the end of this transfer window.
Is Dybala A Dream Option For Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery?
Dybala can engineer a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He remains a good dribbler with the ball and can orchestrate some inviting chances for his teammates up top. The Argentine attacker mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also function as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect Dybala to enhance the overall quality of Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s frontline. He has what it takes to help the Villans push for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
Thus, Dybala would be a dream option for the West Midlands club as he has what it takes to help them compete for a major trophy in the short term. However, at 30, he is a player on the decline and might struggle to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Emery can snap him up this winter.
