In a recent report, Sport claimed that Real Madrid have set their sights on Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are eager to get the Nigerian striker on board in the future.
Boniface’s Excellent Form In Bundesliga
Boniface has enjoyed a terrific campaign in the Bundesliga so far as he has put in a lot of fruitful displays for Leverkusen in the final third. The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals and picked up six assists in 16 appearances for the German outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The Nigerian attacker has led the line well for his current employers and has done well to average 5.3 shots, 1.3 key passes and 3.2 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. However, he lacked quality when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing just 72.2% of his attempted passes in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).
Boniface is under contract at Leverkusen until the summer of 2028. Thus, Los Blancos will have to pay a big fee if they want to recruit the Nigerian forward this winter or at the end of this campaign.
Is Boniface A Decent Option For Real Madrid?
Boniface is proficient at creating a yard of space for himself and can strike the ball with power and precision from all ranges. He has proven himself to be a capable presence in front of the opponent’s goal this season and can even create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net.
The Nigerian talent is a decent dribbler with the ball as well but needs to figure out a way to improve his link-up play up top. He is yet to prove his worth outside Italian football and could be a risky signing for Los Blancos to pull off in 2024.
Still, there is no denying that Boniface would add plenty of goals to Real Madrid’s attack. He is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming years.
We can expect Boniface to offer some serious competition for Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo at the Madrid club in the future. All in all, the Leverkusen star would be a great option for Real Madrid to consider in the upcoming January transfer period.
