Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney reportedly cast his vote for Jurgen Klopp for the FIFA Best Awards on Monday. Wales manager Chris Coleman and Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri were his other two choices.
Ranieri defeated Portugal boss Fernando Santos to win the prestigious FIFA best coach of the year award. Ranieri guided Leicester City to their maiden Premier League title last season while Santos was at the helm of Portugal as they defeated France en route to win the Euro 2016.
After Brendan Rodgers was relieved of his duties, Klopp was appointed to manage the Merseyside club. The German guided to Liverpool to two cup finals in his inaugural season. The Reds are currently five points adrift of Chelsea and are one of thePremier League title contenders.
Rooney voted for Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Jamie Vardy as his three choices for the best player of the year. Ronaldo eventually went on to win the award.
