In a recent report, Defensa Central mentioned that Real Madrid have been offered a chance to sign Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Ilaix Moriba. It has been stated that Los Blancos have been given an opportunity to land the talented midfield ace but a move is unlikely this summer.
Moriba’s Impressive Loan Spell In La Liga
Moriba had a decent loan spell at Valencia where he produced a series of solid displays for them in the middle of the park. The 20-year-old netted one goal and picked up a couple of assists in 28 matches for the Spanish outfit last season in various competitions.
The Guinea international made most of his appearances off the bench but deserves a lot of credit for averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.5 clearances, 0.9 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in La Liga football. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 80.9% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at his parent club RB Leipzig will expire in the summer of 2026. However, the player has his heart set on a move elsewhere which could open the door for Los Blancos to land him.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Go For Moriba?
Moriba is a solid tackler of the ball and usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive. He is a good passer of the ball and can make a few driving runs from midfield. Standing at 1.85m, Moriba can use his strength to win a few 50-50 duels for his side in the air.
The Guinea sensation can even shoot the ball with power from long range. At 20, Moriba has the potential to become a future star in European football. However, he is nowhere near good enough to fight for a regular spot in Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI next season.
Moriba knows La Liga well by now and won’t be a good fit for Los Blancos‘ needs at the moment. Hence, the Madrid giants would be better off not going in for the Leipzig midfield ace and should rather focus on strengthening some of the other areas of their match-day squad.
