In a recent report, Sport stated that Barcelona have identified Atletico Madrid ace Joao Felix as a target for this summer transfer window. It is understood that Barca are eyeing the Portuguese attacker as a replacement for Ousmane Dembele this summer.

Felix’s Loan Spell Of Mixed Emotions At Chelsea Last Season

Felix had an up-and-down loan spell at Chelsea recently as he struggled to be consistent with his offensive productivity for them in the Premier League. The Portugal international played in 20 matches for the Blues last season, scoring four goals in the process across various competitions.

The 23-year-old was a decent performer in the final third and did well to average 2.9 shots and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 80.9% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will run out in 2027. Hence, Barca would have to pay a big fee if they want to land the Portuguese forward in this off-season.

Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Snap Felix Up This Summer?

Felix can create a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances in the final third and remains a great dribbler with the ball.

The Portuguese sensation can be a streaky goal-getter in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. He is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.

Felix will bring more firepower to Barcelona boss Xavi’s attack. He has what it takes to earn a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp next season.

Felix already knows La Liga well by now and won’t take any time to settle into life at the Catalan club. Hence, it makes sense for Barca to snap him up before the end of this summer transfer period.

At 23, the best is yet to come from Felix which makes him a decent option for the Catalan giants to consider for the long run.
