In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Liverpool could move in for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch if he becomes available later this summer. Romano said,
“They don’t want to negotiate at this stage, so if at some point this summer, Bayern will decide to put him on the market and to negotiate, Liverpool will be there for sure.
“Otherwise, I think it’s going to be complicated because, as of today, Bayern have no intention of opening talks.”
Gravenberch’s Unimpressive Season In German Football
Gravenberch has struggled to earn regular first-team starts at the Allianz Arena during this campaign. The Dutch midfield ace has been involved in 32 matches for the Munich outfit this season, scoring one goal and picking up one assist across all competitions.
The 21-year-old has seen most of his appearances coming off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 0.7 tackles, 0.3 interceptions, 0.3 clearances, 0.5 shots, 0.3 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 89.6% of his attempted passes in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).
What Will Gravenberch Bring To Liverpool?
Gravenberch is a good tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his side at the centre of the park when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field.
The Dutch talent has got the vision to create some decent plays for others around him and is an exciting dribbler with the ball at his feet. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder if needed.
Gravenberch has what it takes to bring more energy and dynamism to Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield. He will no doubt increase competition for places within the Merseyside club‘s squad and could help the Reds challenge for some major silverware over the next few seasons.
Klopp could be the perfect man to unlock the best out of Gravenberch who is in dire need of regular first-team starts to further his development. All in all, Liverpool should focus on getting a deal done for the Dutch midfield ace if he becomes available at the end of this season.
