In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones stated that Arsenal are facing tough competition from Tottenham Hotspur in the race to land Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. It has been claimed that the Gunners have identified the English centre-back as a target for the upcoming transfer window.

Guehi’s Consistent Season In South London

Guehi is experiencing a solid campaign at Selhurst Park as he has been responsible for producing a run of impressive displays at the centre of Palace’s defence. The 22-year-old has scored one goal in 39 matches for the Eagles this season across various competitions.

The English sensation has been a reliable performer on the defensive third of the pitch based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.6 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back after making 85.3% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the London club is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to win the race to secure Guehi’s services in this off-season.

Is Guehi A Decent Option For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?

Guehi is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.

The English talent is proficient at playing his way out from the back. He can also win his fair share of aerial duels.

We can expect Guehi to add more bite and steel to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta‘s defensive department. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium next season.

Guehi might even help the Gunners challenge across all competitions over the next few years. At 22, the future is quite bright for the English centre-back which makes him an excellent option for Arsenal to consider this summer.
