In a recent tweet, Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna mentioned that Manchester United are hoping to land Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. It has been claimed that the Red Devils could face competition in the form of Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to land the Dutch sensation.

Gravenberch’s Limited Role In German Football This Season
Gravenberch has played a sporadic role at the Allianz Arena during this campaign as he has struggled to earn regular game time at the centre of Bayern’s midfield. The 20-year-old has made 27 appearances for the Munich outfit this season, netting one goal and grabbing one assist across all fronts.
The Amsterdam-born talent has seen most of his game time come off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 0.6 tackles, 0.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after making 89.1% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Bavarian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Man United to snap him up at the end of this campaign.
What Will Gravenberch Add To Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag’s Side?
Gravenberch is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to earn the ball back for his team when he is playing regularly on the pitch.
The Dutch talent doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can also create some decent chances in the final third. However, he needs to add some more goals and assists to his game if he wants to earn more playing opportunities in the coming seasons.
Man United boss Erik ten Hag has got the luxury to offer him a regular starting role at Old Trafford. He could even help the Red Devils challenge for some top honours by adding more quality to their midfield department over the next few years. At 20, Gravenberch has got the potential to become a future star at the Theatre of Dreams as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
