Ryan Reynolds has taken the world by storm by becoming one of the most famous faces of the modern television industry for his brilliant contributions as an actor in Hollywood. He also recently made a name for himself after purchasing a lower-league Welsh club Wrexham with his actor friend, Rob McElhenney in 2020.
Reynolds chose to give a detailed account of buying a football club in Wales, in a recent television show on FX called, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
What Did Reynolds Say About The FX Documentary, Welcome To Wrexham?
As part of the FX tv show, Reynolds shed some light on the story behind his inspiring tale of buying Wrexham and even revealed his ambitions of leading the Welsh club to Premier League football someday. The Hollywood actor said (via AS),
“If everything falls into place, hopefully we will be in the Premier League within 25 years.
“We love sports. We love telling stories through sport. You have to manage it like a business, but in most cases a business is where you have to make a profit.
“The main area of life where I got the most support from my father was when he was good at sports. So I played sports way past the point where I was really motivated to do it just to get their buy-in. My father has been dead for years, but these things don’t go away.
“I’m sure he would have thought that all this was crazy.
“It is about putting Wrexham on the world stage.
“It’s a story of the underdog and that’s a story I love,”
Is The TV Show Based On A True Story?
Yes. Since ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ is actually a real documentary, we can safely state that it is based on a true story. Anyone who is a Ryan Reynolds fan or has any interest in football should definitely consider watching this FX show.
We wish the Hollywood star the best for his adventures in football.
