Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed the notion that English football is superior to other European leagues, emphasizing that other leagues continue to compete despite the financial differences.

Speaking to the media before their league match against Cadiz, he was asked about Manchester City‘s favouritism for the Champions League, given that Real Madrid is the reigning champion.
“I’m not bothered because the truth is that English football has teams that compete very well. It doesn’t surprise me that the English are favourites like Manchester City is now. However, I think even if there is a little difference, other regions show they can compete. Spanish football took two teams to the semifinals last year, this year Italy has three this year….”
Ancelotti acknowledged that English teams compete well and are rightfully favoured but pointed out that other regions have also shown they can compete, such as Spain and Italy.
“European football is much more competitive than people say. The English think they have the strongest league and the most spectacular league in the world, but the truth is when they come to Europe, they compete with teams with less money, but they continue to compete, such as Spain and Italy.”
He stated that European football is more competitive than people think. Even though English football is considered the strongest and most spectacular league, teams with less financial power from other regions continue to compete.

Ancelotti also confirmed that he would be staying with Real Madrid next season while ruling out Toni Kroos and Vinicius Junior for the Cadiz game. However, some may argue that the concern is more long-term, as Spanish teams have struggled to strengthen when playing in Europe, while opponents like Chelsea have spent almost as much as Barcelona‘s entire budget in just two windows.
