Manchester City clashed heads with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground earlier today as they looked to secure a positive result on the road in the Premier League. The Mancunian club made a decent start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 41st-minute courtesy of Bernardo Silva’s goal. Pep Guardiola’s men went into the half-time interval 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Man City failed to finish off their chances in the second half and paid the price in the 84th minute when Chris Wood scored for the home side from close range. The contest ended with the Mancunian giants being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the match against Nottingham.
GK: Ederson – 6/10
The Brazilian keeper hardly had anything to do in the game and was powerless to stop Chris Wood from scoring in the 84th minute.
CB: Kyle Walker – 6.5/10
Walker was a positive influence at both ends of the field but will be disappointed after allowing a late goal.
CB: Ruben Dias – 6.5/10
He was solid when defending inside his half and was a threat at the other end of the pitch as well.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – 6/10
Laporte made a couple of last-ditch clearances and was good on the ball.
CM: Rodri – 7/10
The Spaniard offered enough protection for his teammates at the back and was accurate with his passing.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 7.5/10
Silva scored a fine goal to give Man City the lead in the 41st minute. He was mostly quiet in the second half.
RM: Phil Foden – 7/10
He showed a few flashes of what he can do but lacked quality inside the opponent’s penalty area.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 7.5/10
De Bruyne caused a lot of problems for the Nottingham defenders and did everything but score today.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 7/10
The German talent had a few bright moments in the game but failed to register a goal.
LM: Jack Grealish – 7/10
Grealish engineered a few inviting chances for others around him and picked up an assist for setting up Silva’s opener.
ST: Erling Haaland – 6/10
Haaland was unfortunate to hit the crossbar but let his team down after missing a sitter in the second half.
Substitutes:
ST: Julian Alvarez – N/A
He offered very little after coming on in the 87th minute.
CB: Nathan Ake – N/A
Ake made one good chance going forward.
