In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Chelsea are among the clubs hoping to land Barcelona winger Abde Ezzalzouli, who is currently playing on loan at Osasuna. It has been revealed that the Blues are showing interest in the Moroccan sensation ahead of a potential move in the summer.
Ezzalzouli’s Loan Spell At Osasuna So Far
Ezzalzouli has experienced an up and down loan spell at Osasuna this season but has managed to produce a few eye-catching displays on the left side of their attack. The Moroccan talent has registered one goal and two assists in 17 matches for the Catalan club during this campaign across all fronts.
The 21-year-old has shown some glimpses of what he is capable of in the final third by averaging 1.0 shots, 0.4 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he has been a bit sloppy when linking up play with others around him in the opponent’s half after completing only 72.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Nou Camp is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, Chelsea will have to make a big offer if they are serious about landing the Moroccan wide player at the end of this season.
Is Ezzalzouli A Good Fit For Chelsea Boss Graham Potter?
Ezzalzouli is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can cause a few problems for his marker out on the wide areas. He can create space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal but needs to figure out a way to improve his productivity in the final third. However, there are some concerns over whether the Moroccan talent can cope with the physical side of English football.
At the moment, Ezzalzouli is still maturing as a footballer and would need time before he can taste success at the highest level. However, there is no denying that he has the potential to become a future star in European football.
We can expect Ezzalzouli to improve the overall depth of Chelsea boss Graham Potter‘s squad. He is already good enough to fight for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge. Plus, his skillset will fit Potter’s playing style quite well at the West London club.
All in all, the Blues should consider making a big-money move to sign Ezzalzouli as he will be a great signing for them in the long run.
