According to Marca, Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is desperate to sign a contract extension at Santiago Bernabeu although Los Blancos haven’t come to an agreement with the Spaniard. It is understood that his contract with the European Champions lasts until the end of this season which explains why he wants to rush into an agreement with them.
Ceballos’ Campaign With Real Madrid So Far This Season
Ceballos is having a decent campaign at Madrid this season as he has been an integral part of the midfield department being an impact substitute for Ancelotti. The Spanish midfielder has managed to find the back of the net on one occasion and created an assist over 14 appearances so far across all fronts.
The Ultrera-born talent has made the most out of his appearances in the middle of the park based on his averages of 1.0 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 0.8 key passes per game in La Liga. He has also been accurate when distributing possession to his teammates based on his pass completion rate of 92.7% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).
Should Ancelotti Renew His Contract?
Ceballos is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when needed and remains an accurate passer of the ball as well. Ceballos is primarily a central midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if his manager asks him to do so. Furthermore, he can occasionally score the odd goals when playing with confidence and does well to set up his teammates with decent opportunities in front of the goal.
There is no denying that Ceballos has what it takes to add more strength to the midfield department and increase competition for places within the match-day squad at Santiago Bernabeu.
At 26, Ceballos is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent option for Ancelotti to consider having on the bench. Hence, the Madrid boss should take his contract renewal into consideration and get his signature before the end of this season.
