In a recent interview with Sky Sports Germany, journalist Florian Plettenburg revealed that Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is keen on joining Liverpool. Plettenburg said,
“There have been no personal talks between Klopp and Bellingham yet,
“The talks so far have been done by others from the club with the Bellingham side. They want him and they still have the feeling that it could work out and that Bellingham is keen on Liverpool.”
Bellingham’s Excellent Numbers In German Football
Bellingham is experiencing another impressive campaign at Signal Iduna Park as he has managed to produce a series of consistent displays at the heart of Dortmund’s midfield. The England international has scored nine times and picked up three assists in 22 matches for the German club this season on all fronts.
The 19-year-old has proven himself to be a valuable contributor at both ends of the field by averaging 3.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 2.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the back after making 82.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Dortmund is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, Liverpool will have to try and arrange a big move to acquire the services of the talented midfield ace at the end of this season.
Is Bellingham A Dream Signing For Liverpool?
Bellingham is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when needed and can also engineer some meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third.
The English youngster can also make a few decent runs with the ball from midfield and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals. He mainly functions as a central midfielder but can also operate as a wide player on either wing if asked to do so.
Hence, Bellingham will be a dream signing for Liverpool as he will strengthen Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield considerably in the long run. Furthermore, the Dortmund prospect could help the Reds challenge for some top honours over the next decade.
At 19, Bellingham has already proven himself to be a world-class footballer and has the potential to go down in history as an Anfield great if he decides to move to Liverpool next summer.
