In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that Liverpool are among clubs hoping to land Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. It has been stated that the Reds could face competition in the form of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in the race to land the France international.
Rabiot’s Encouraging Season At The Allianz Stadium
Rabiot is having a decent season in Turin after putting in some positive performances at the centre of Juve’s midfield. The French midfield ace has found the back of the net six times and grabbed a couple of assists in 21 matches for the Italian club during this campaign across various competitions.
The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer at the Allianz Stadium based on his average of 2.0 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.5 clearances, 1.2 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing possession going forward after completing 85.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will expire at the end of this campaign. Hence, Liverpool could potentially land him on a cut-price fee during this January transfer period.
What Will Rabiot Add To Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp’s Team?
Rabiot is quick to scan the danger and can clear his lines when the opposition are on the offensive. He is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. Rabiot is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if his manager tells him to do so.
The French midfield ace deserves credit for scoring and creating his fair share of goals from midfield and can also make some powerful runs with the ball toward the opponent’s penalty area.
We can expect Rabiot to add more bite and steel to Jurgen Klopp‘s midfield at Anfield. He could go on to form a dominant midfield partnership with Fabinho at the Merseyside club.
Rabiot is good enough to help the Reds maintain their top-push push this season and even compete for some major trophies in the future. At 27, he is about to enter the prime years of his playing career and ticks all the right boxes in terms of what Klopp demands from his midfielders. Hence, Liverpool should focus on going all out to recruit the France international during this winter transfer window.
