Manchester City faced off against Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to earn a positive result in the EFL Cup. The Mancunian side made a sloppy start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 23rd minute when Sekou Mara found the back of the net for the Saints. Moussa Djenepo doubled the home team’s advantage just five minutes later as Man City went into the half-time break 2-0 down on the scoreline.

Pep Guardiola’s men failed to mount a comeback in the second half as the contest finished with Man City suffering a 2-0 loss away from home.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player fared during the match against Southampton.

Ortega made a couple of solid saves at the back but will be disappointed after conceding two goals in the first half.

Walker was far from convincing at the back and was replaced at half-time.
