If a report from the Sunday Mirror is believed to be true, Newcastle United are chasing the signing of unsettled Chelsea star Christian Pulisic. They are in the hunt for a wide attacker and the USMNT international tops their three-man shortlist ahead of Leandro Trossard and Jack Harrison.
The Magpies might have invested heavily since the Saudi-led takeover, but the football they are playing under Eddie Howe has impressed everyone. They are fighting for a Champions League berth and the owners are determined to continue their spending spree in the upcoming months. A plethora of names have been linked over a potential transfer to Tyneside and the January arrival of Pulisic would bolster their ‘top four’ push alongside the league’s ‘big six’.
But the Magpies are not alone in the race. Manchester United and Arsenal are also monitoring his situation at Stamford Bridge, however, their preference is a loan move for the remainder of the campaign. Thomas Tuchel tried him in various roles including wingback and ‘False 9’. None, however, worked for the 24-year-old American who continues to struggle for minutes under new boss Graham Potter.
