Argentina will battle the last World Cup finalists Croatia at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Tuesday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-final. Lionel Messi‘s side recorded a narrow win against Netherlands over penalties in their last game. On the other hand, Luka Modric’s team sent Brazil home as they went on to win the Penalty shootout in their quarter-finals match-up. Both the teams held their nerves and prevailed in their penalty shootouts to advance into the semi-finals, so we can expect this encounter to be a great showdown between them.

Argentina Vs Croatia: Talking Tactics

Lionel Scaloni will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some changes. Lisandro Martinez will drop to the bench as the Argentine boss goes back to a four-man defence. This could make way for Angel Di Maria to return to the starting XI.

Zlatko Dalic will likely set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation of his own which has been working for the team. He is expected to make no changes to the playing XI as Andrej Kramaric leads the charge up top. At the same time, Dominic Livakovic will continue to operate between the sticks looking to produce another impressive display.

Team News

Argentina

Scaloni will remain without the services of Gonzalo Montiel and Marcus Acuna as both of them remain suspended for Tuesday’s encounter. Alejandro Gomez is pushing to be available for selection as he steps up his recovery from an ankle sprain. Thankfully there are no fresh concerns for the Argentine boss, so we can expect the rest of the team to be fully fit and available for the contest.

Argentina Predicted XI

E. Martinez; Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Tagliafico; Fernandez, De Paul, Mac Allister; Di Maria, Messi, Alvarez

Croatia

Having sent one of the South American giants home in their last encounter, Dalic’s side was blessed with no fresh injury concerns. He would be working with a fully fit squad available at his disposal after Borna Sosa and Mislav Orsic both have recovered from their respective illnesses.

Croatia Predicted XI

Livakovic; Juranovic, Gvardiol, Lovren, Sosa; Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic; Pasalic, Kramaric, Perisic
