England faced off against France at the Al Bayt Stadium earlier today as they looked to secure a victory in the quarterfinal stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Three Lions made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 17th minute when Aurelien Tchouameni found the back of the net. Gareth Southgate’s men struggled to come up with a response and went into the half-time interval 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Harry Kane equalised from the penalty spot in the 54th minute. However, the English players conceded their second goal in the 78th minute when Olivier Giroud registered his name on the scoresheet for France. Kane missed a penalty soon after as the Three Lions crashed to a 2-1 loss in Qatar which knocked them out of the World Cup.
