In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona are eager to recruit Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva. It has been mentioned that the Catalan giants are willing to cash in on Frenkie de Jong to fund a move for the Portugal international next year.
Silva’s Decent Run Of Form At The Etihad Stadium
Silva has experienced a decent campaign at Manchester after putting in some influential performances for Pep Guardiola’s side in the final third. The 28-year-old has registered two goals and five assists in 14 appearances for Man City this season across various competitions.
The former AS Monaco talent has been a consistent performer on the attacking end of the field as he is averaging 1.0 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has even been excellent when interchanging possession in the opposition half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 89.9% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, Barcelona would have to make a good offer if they want to get the Portuguese wing wizard on board at the end of this campaign.
Is Silva A Dream Option For Barcelona Head Coach Xavi?
Silva is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with the ball in the final third. He has got the eye to play a few killer passes in the opponent’s half and usually works his socks off for the benefit of his team. Silva is primarily a right-winger but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.
The Portugal international can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
Hence, Barca would do well to secure Silva’s services this winter or at the end of this campaign. He will enhance the overall quality of Xavi‘s starting XI and could even help the Catalan club compete for some major trophies over the next few seasons.
At 28, Silva is playing at the peak of his playing career and would make an instant impact at the Catalan club if Xavi can devise a way to bring him to the Nou Camp. With all things considered, the Man City star will be a dream option for Barcelona to pursue next year.
