In a recent report from Football.London, it was mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison could be approached by Real Madrid in the upcoming transfer window after the Brazilian had an impressive World Cup debut against Serbia where he scored two outstanding goals to give his team the lead.

Richarlison’s Campaign With Tottenham Hotspur So Far

Richarlison has had a slow start at Tottenham as he has struggled with playtime with the North London club. He has only made 14 appearances for Spurs this season finding the back of the net on two occasions and grabbing two assists across all fronts.

The Brazilian sensation hasn’t had enough playtime with the Lilywhites to prove his worth as a reliable and consistent performer which explains why he is averaging 1.3 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has improved his ball distribution after completing 75.4% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Should Conte Offer Him More Playtime Or Sanction His Exit In The Upcoming Transfer Windows?

Richarlison has a solid presence in the attacking third. Despite being a forward, he likes to put his foot into a tackle contributing heavily on the defensive end. He excels at creating space and can make some decent runs in the final third creating clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities in front of the goal. The Brazil international has got attacking awareness and brilliant positioning inside the penalty box which are similar to that of Karim Benzema.

Richarlison could definitely add more goals to a match-day squad and has the technical attributes of becoming a top-class forward but with Harry Kane being the first choice, the Brazilian is only acting as a cover or looking to feature in other forward positions competing with the likes of Dejan Kulsevki and Heung Min Son. He is no doubt versatile in the attacking end of the field but getting the nod over Kulusevski, Son or Kane would turn out to be very difficult as they remain crucial in Conte’s starting XI.

Furthermore, at this point in his career, the former Everton forward would be disappointed and unhappy with lesser game time, so if approached by Real Madrid he could certainly look for an exit from North London. Antonio Conte would be wise to retain the services of Richarlison but that would only happen if he’s getting more minutes on the pitch compared to the past few months.
