Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Newcastle United at St. James’ Park earlier this evening as they focused on securing a win at home in the Premier League. Spurs made a poor start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 31st minute when Callum Wilson scored with a tidy finish. Miguel Almiron doubled Newcastle’s advantage with a brilliant run and finish just nine minutes later as Spurs went into the half-time break 2-0 down on the scoreline.
Harry Kane pulled a goal back for the North London club in the 54th minute but the contest finished with Spurs suffering a 2-1 defeat in front of their home fans.

The French keeper could have done better to prevent both of Newcastle’s goals. However, he did make a few solid saves at the back.

Dier made a lot of important clearances at the back and earned the ball back twice.

Lenglet made one crucial interception during the game and picked up an assist for setting up Kane’s goal.
RM: Emerson Royal – 6.5/10
He cleared the danger when required and made two good chances in the final third.
CM: Oliver Skipp – 6.5/10
Skipp was quite creative with his passing but failed to offer enough protection for his teammates at the back.
CM: Yves Bissouma – 6/10
He made a couple of crucial defensive contributions but lacked quality on the ball.
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – 8/10
Rodrigo anchored the midfield really well and made a handful of promising runs with the ball. He also created two meaningful chances in the final third.
LM: Ryan Sessegnon – 6.5/10
The English talent was defensively solid and made one decent chance in the final third.
ST: Harry Kane – 8/10
The England international pulled a goal back for Spurs with a solid header. However, he failed to take any of his other chances.
ST: Heung-min Son – 6.5/10
Son was a constant menace in front of the Newcastle goal but didn’t do enough to find the back of the net.
