In a recent report, 1000 Cuori Rossoblu mentioned that Everton are locked in a three-way battle for Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg. It is believed that the Toffees will have to battle it out with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in pursuit of the Swedish talent this summer.
Svanberg’s Impressive Run Of Form At The Stadio Renato Dall’Ara
Svanberg is having a decent season in Italian football as he has put in a run of impressive displays at the centre of Bologna’s midfield. The 18-time Sweden international has found the back of the net three times and grabbed three assists in 36 matches for the Italian giants this season on all fronts.
The 23-year-old has done well to influence the game at both ends of the field by averaging 1.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been careful with his ball distribution after completing 76.7% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
What Will Svanberg Bring To Everton?
Svanberg can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed.
The Sweden international can strike the ball really well from long range and is a decent playmaker as well when he is playing with confidence on the pitch. Svanberg can also make some exciting runs with the ball from midfield.
Thus, it makes sense for Everton boss Frank Lampard to try everything in his power to bring the Bologna midfield ace to Goodison Park during the summer transfer window.
At 23, Svanberg has still got a lot of room for improvement which makes him an ideal option for Lampard to work with at the Merseyside club in the coming seasons. We can expect the Swedish sensation to bring some much-needed quality to Everton’s midfield department that might propel them to challenge for a European place in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
