Chelsea are set to face Liverpool at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday, this time with a trophy on the line as they gear up for the FA Cup final.

The Reds are neck to neck with Manchester City in the Premier League standings after defeating Aston Villa. The hopes of attaining a quadruple still linger around for the Merseyside fans. As for the Blues, they come into the match being confident as they defeated Leeds United 3-0 comfortably. They wish to take home the FA Cup as that remains the only Domestic silverware for them to achieve this season.

Team News

Mateo Kovacic is unlikely to feature after being on the receiving end of a dreadful tackle as he picked up an injury on his ankle in the clash against the Whites. Thomas Tuchel could make use of Jorginho as he has made a timely return after dealing with his injury.

N’Golo Kante will be welcomed back but will likely be benched as he remains doubtful to start. Thomas Tuchel would probably opt for the 3-4-3 formation with a couple of tweaks from the last match.

Defence

Edouard Mendy is expected to start between the sticks for the upcoming clash. The Senegalese shot-stopper would hope to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet.

Thiago Silva could start at the heart of the Blues’ backline, whereas Antonio Rudiger should feature at the left centre-back spot. Cesar Azpilicueta would fulfil the right centre-back position.

Midfield

Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek might fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the former occupying a more central role. The pair would be looking to dominate the midfield proceedings.

Marcos Alonso features at the left wing-back position, whereas Reece James will fill in on the other flank as the right wing-back. The duo would be expected to stretch Chelsea’s attacks in the opposition half.

N’Golo Kante will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could be brought on in the latter stages of the game if needed.

Attack

Kai Havertz and Mason Mount will slot into the attacking midfield roles. The duo would be determined to set up some clear-cut goal-scoring chances for the striker.

Romelu Lukaku might lead the line for Chelsea in the midweek. The 22-year-old striker will be hoping to find the back of the net when he faces off against the Reds’ defence.
