In a recent interview with mybettingsites.co.uk, former England player Tony Cottee urged West Ham United to land Everton defender Michael Keane. Cottee said,
‘West Ham needs to sign players like [Jesse] Lingard, like Michael Keane.
‘Players like that, good English players, coming and buying into what David Moyes got going on and want to be a part of the squad and that good team spirit they’ve got there.’
Keane’s Season Of Mixed Emotions At Merseyside
Keane is having a tough campaign at Goodison Park as he has struggled to help Everton pick up a run of favourable results on the field. The Manchester-born talent has featured in 34 matches for the Toffees this season, finding the back of the net on two occasions and providing two assists in all competitions.
The 29-year-old has been a rock at the back based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 2.0 interceptions and 4.0 clearances per game in Premier League football. He has even been accurate with his ball distribution after completing 76.5% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Should Everton Boss Frank Lampard Let Keane Go This Summer?
Keane has established himself as a solid presence on the defensive end of the field. He can time his tackles well to earn possession back for his side inside his half.
The English centre-half usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the front foot. He is also a tidy passer of the ball and can chip in by scoring the odd goal from indirect set-pieces.
At 29, Keane is currently playing at the top of his game. Thus, it makes no sense for the Merseyside club to let him go during the summer transfer period. He remains an integral member of Everton‘s first XI and could help them stay relevant in top-flight football.
The Toffees would be better off keeping hold of Keane for the duration of his contract which is set to run out in the summer of 2025. However, a lot will also ride on whether Everton boss Frank Lampard can steer his team to safety and avoid getting relegated from the Premier League in the coming weeks.
