In a recent interview with Calciomercato’s CMIT TV, ESPN journalist Daniel Martinez mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur have a good chance of signing Paulo Dybala when his Juventus contract runs out at the end of this season. Martinez said,
“I would also add Tottenham. And Barcelona always have a good chance.
“I try to put myself in Dybala’s shoes. This is the year of the World Cup and he wants to stay in the national team, if he has a sacred monster like Messi in front of him, but a player with his quality can always carve out space. It is true that Messi is there, but Aguero is not there and he can carve out his possibilities.
“The one with most chances in the Italian market is Inter, due to Marotta, the man who brought him to Juventus. There is also a lot of talk about Atletico Madrid and Tottenham, with Paratici.
“He will have no problem finding new accommodation at no cost on a major project. Where he goes will depend on how important he will be for that project in the short term, the key for him is to win the World Cup.”
Dybala’s Impressive Form In Italian Football This Season
The 28-year-old is having a decent campaign at the Allianz Stadium after scoring 13 goals and providing six assists in 29 matches for the Italian outfit this season in various competitions.
The Argentina international has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 3.6 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution as he has completed 85.1% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Should Tottenham Hotspur Get Dybala On Board?
Dybala excels at getting a few shots in on-target and has got the vision to create some meaningful chances for others around him in the attacking end of the field.
The 32-time Argentina international is a decent dribbler with the ball and can retain possession with ease for his team. The fact that he will be available as a free agent this summer makes him a good option for Spurs to consider later this year.
Antonio Conte can use someone of Dybala’s quality as he would be able to come in straight away and help the North London outfit secure UEFA Champions League football in the coming seasons.
Plus, Dybala could go on to form a lethal attacking partnership with Heung-min Son at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming seasons. Therefore, Conte should consider making a move to get the Argentine on board in the summer.
