Real Madrid are looking to bounce back to winning ways as they play hosts to Granada on Sunday. The Spanish giants are currently experiencing a rough patch lately, having been shockingly eliminated from the Copa Del Rey in midweek. The Liga leaders were also held to a 2-2 draw in their last league game and with Sevilla breathing down their necks, this could be a must-win encounter for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
Predicted Real Madrid Lineup Vs Granada
Defence
Carlo Ancelotti has some key decisions to make on Sunday, as he deals with the absence of Ferland Mendy. David Alaba remains a favourite to deputise the Frenchman at left-back, thus paving the way for Nacho Fernandez to once again start at centre-back.
The experience Spaniard will hope to form the central defensive pairing alongside Eder Militao. Having conceded three goals in the last two competitive matches, the onus will be on these two to keep the Granada attack at bay.
Meanwhile, there might be a change at right-back, as Dani Carvajal looks to replace Lucas Vazquez after coming back with a negative test. The Spanish international should offer more balance on the right hand side, though it will be interesting to see how he offers the creative support upfront.
Thibaut Courtois remains a guaranteed starter in goal. The Belgian is hoping for a clean sheet against Granada after a disappointing run of form lately.
Midfield
Real Madrid players will be tired after a midweek clash against Athletic Bilbao. However, given the importance of this fixture, Ancelotti may have no option but to persist with his tried and tested midfield trifecta consisting of Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
Casemiro should occupy the holding midfield slot as usual, whereas both Kroos and Modric could have a part to play in offering the creative essence and stability in possession.
Attack
In the attack, Real Madrid will have to deal with the absence of Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian is serving a yellow card suspension, but on a positive note, Karim Benzema is in contention to return from his injury.
The Frenchman should spearhead the Real Madrid attack, with the help of two wide attackers in Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard. Rodrygo is likely to be rested after the midweek clash against Athletic Bilbao while Vazquez is a potential alternative for Asensio at right-wing.
