Real Madrid clashed heads with Athletic Bilbao at the San Mames Stadium earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a positive result and book a place in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey. Both sides fought tooth and nail in the first half as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.

Los Blancos produced an unimpressive display in the second half and conceded the opening goal in the 89th minute when Alex Berenguer found the back of the net with a left-footed finish. Carlo Ancelotti’s men ended up crashing out of the Copa del Rey after losing the contest by a 1-0 scoreline.

Let’s take a look at how each Real Madrid player performed during the match against Athletic Bilbao.

GK: Thibaut Courtois – 6/10

The Belgian keeper made a couple of good saves during the game but will be disappointed after conceding such a late goal.

RB: Lucas Vazquez – 7/10

He performed his defensive duties well and engineered two key chances in the opposition half.

CB: Eder Militao – 6/10

Militao kept the Athletic Bilbao attackers at bay for most of the game but won’t be pleased after letting in a late goal.

CB: Nacho – 6.5/10

He was solid at the back but there was no clean sheet for him tonight.

LB: David Alaba – 6/10

Alaba read the danger well at times. He had one strike at goal which was blocked in the latter stages of the game.

CM: Luka Modric – 6/10

The Croatia international got booked for a poor challenge. He struggled to influence the game but managed to create one good chance in the second half.

CM: Casemiro – 6/10

Casemiro tried his best to protect his backline and was bright on the ball. However, he failed to create too many clear-cut chances going forward.

CM: Toni Kroos – 6/10

He had a couple of good moments in the first half but ran out of gas in the second and got replaced in the 76th minute.

RW: Rodrygo – 6.5/10

Rodrygo caused a few problems for the opposition but didn’t do enough to score.

ST: Marco Asensio – 6/10

Asensio showed a few glimpses of his brilliance but produced a lackluster display in front of the opposition goal.

LW: Vinicius Junior – 6.5/10

He won a lot of freekicks for his team in the first half but could only last 60 minutes.

LW: Isco – 6/10

The Spaniard made one good opportunity in the final third.

CM: Eduardo Camavinga – 6/10

He added some energy to Ancelotti’s midfield.
