Fichajes has claimed that Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele wants to play in England amid interest from Manchester United and a few other clubs in recent years. It is believed that the Red Devils could face competition from Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain if they decide to move in for the French wide player in the future.
Dembele’s Injury-Plagued Season In Spanish Football
Dembele has endured another injury-ravaged campaign at Catalonia after being sidelined for a lot of games for Barca due to multiple injuries. The 24-year-old has been involved in ten matches for Xavi’s side this season, netting one goal and registering two assists on all fronts.
The French sensation has caught the eye in the limited game time he has received at the Nou Camp by averaging 2.8 shots, 1.7 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass completion rate of 85.1% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Will Dembele Be A Good Option For Manchester United Boss Ralf Rangnick?
Dembele can use his quickness and agility to make some promising runs with the ball out on the flanks. He doesn’t shy away from challenging his marker and beating them off the dribble in the final third. The 27-time France international can score and create goals regularly when he is playing with confidence on the field. However, Dembele’s Barca career has been hampered by a lot of injuries. Therefore, it makes sense for the player to opt for a change of scenery so that he can get his career back on track.
Based on the Frenchman’s injury record, there are some question marks over whether the Barca wing wizard will be able to handle the physical nature of English football if Man United decide to bring him to Old Trafford this year.
Ralf Rangnick has already got a lot of big-name players in his attack. Thus, it is not logical for the German head coach to move in for someone as injury-prone as Dembele because he might struggle to prove his worth at the Theatre of Dreams.
The French talent is not a good option for the Red Devils to consider at the moment. However, if Dembele can stay injury-free over the next few months, the Mancunian giants would be wise to revisit their plans of recruiting him when he becomes a free agent next summer.
