Manchester City clinched a narrow victory at the Emirates stadium to beat Arsenal 2-1 in the 93rd minute. Arsenal started on the strong foot as Saka gave the Gunners a well deserved lead in the 31st minute to go 1-0 up at half-time. Manchester City were then awarded a penalty in the 57th minute which Riyad Mahrez converted and soon after Arsenal were left with 10 men as Gabriel was sent off for a second yellow card. The Gunners managed to hold on for 93 minutes before Rodri snatched it to make it 11 wins in a row for City in the Premier League.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester City player performed during the match against the Gunners.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
The Brazilian goalkeeper was forced to make a couple of saves in the first half but couldn’t manage to keep out Saka’s brilliantly taken goal. The second half was relatively easier and he kept his calm till the end.
RB: Joao Cancelo – 6.5/10
Cancelo was given the task of dropping into the midfield to help City’s build-up play and then move back to the RB position when Arsenal countered. He struggled to keep up with the Brazilian’s pace and was outnumbered on the left-hand side of the pitch.
CB: Ruben Dias – 7.5/10
The Portuguese centre-back put up a solid display and put his body on the line to make some crucial blocks.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – 6.5/10
Laporte looked a bit shaky and was bailed out by Ake when he made a goal-line clearance off Laporte’s misplaced header.
LB: Nathan Ake – 6.5/10
Ake found it tough to match Saka’s pace but kept City in the game with a crucial goal-line clearance.
CM: Rodri – 8/10
Rodri shut out a lot of attacks and distributed the ball well in the middle of the park. Most importantly he scored the injury-time winner to make it 11 wins in a row for CIty in the league.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 6.5/10
Bernardo Silva didn’t have his best of days as he misplaced a few of his passes. He earned the penalty for Mahrez to score with a brilliant skill inside the box.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10
The Belgian had a couple of efforts go off target but it was his delivery into the box which created the injury-time winner.
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 7.5/10
Riyad Mahrez was not quite clinical in that final third but kept his cool to slot the penalty away and get Manchester City into the game.
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 6/10
Jesus was not allowed any space to work with but played his part in getting Gabriel sent off and putting City in control in the 2nd half.
LW: Raheem Sterling – 6.5/10
Sterling impressed with his dribbling but lacked accuracy in the final third.
