Leeds United and Leicester City played out a 1-1 draw at Elland Road. The home side had a bright start to the game but they could only find the net in the 26th minute when Raphinha’s freekick missed everybody in the box and went into the net. Seconds later Evan’s long ball fell into Soumare’s path who flicked his header in the path of Barnes who curled a beautiful effort into the right top corner giving Meslier no chance of saving the goal.
Let’s look at how the Leeds players performed during the match against Leicester City.
GK: Illan Meslier- 7/10
Between the sticks Meslier was calm and composed when needed but had no chance to save Barnes’s effort.
RB: Stuart Dallas- 6/10
Dallas lost his man during the goal and was sloppy sometimes at the back having to be rescued by his teammates.
CB: Diego Llorente: 8/10
Llorente was flawless at the heart of the defence and didn’t give Vardy, a quality striker to latch upon any chance. He was strong aerially as well as with the ball at his feet.
CB: Liam Cooper- 6.5/10
Liam Cooper, except for a couple of moments where he was bailed out by his teammates, was solid at the back.
LB: Pascal Strujik- 7/10
Strujik was comfortable on the ball going up the pitch and solid defensively, he hardly gave Lookman any breathing space.
CM: Adam Forshaw- 7/10
Forshaw controlled the midfield and picked his passes, although he lost some duels, he was quick to mop those up.
CM: Kalvin Phillips- 7/10
The central midfielder created the best chance of the game when his flicked header was missed by Harrison. He was solid in the middle of the park supplying balls to the likes of Rodrigo, James and Raphinha.
RW: Raphinha- 8/10
Raphinha was again the best player on the pitch. He created problems for Castagne throughout the game. His dribbling was a treat to watch and scored a well-executed freekick.
CAM: Daniel James- 6/10
James couldn’t capitalize on the chances he got as he lashed his shots off target throughout the game.
LW: Jack Harrison- 6/10
Harrison missed a sitter which seems to cost Leeds all 3 points today at home. Overall his decision making was not the best and struggled against Ricardo Pereira.
ST: Rodrigo- 6/10
Rodrigo missed a couple of chances as he was not clinical enough in front of the goal.
Substitutes-
Tyler Roberts- NA
He came on in the 84th minute and had no time to affect the game.
