Liverpool will be welcoming a struggling West Ham side to Anfield as they look to shake off last week’s horrendous collapse against Bournemouth. In a match which the Reds were leading 3-1 in the 63rd minute, they somehow conspired to bring back their infamous breakdown traits which resulted in a serious Deja Vu overdose for the fans and the spectators alike. The Cherries have been roundly applauded by all for their dedication and attempt to play good football instead of camping in their own half like many others do especially against the bigger teams. And the result would have been a big shot in the arm of Eddie Howe who has abided by his methods diligently till now.
The Reds will be facing a West Ham team who have struggled to put together any performance of note. They are on the back of two thrashings, a 4-1 loss against Manchester United and the 5-1 mauling at the hands of an Alexis Sanchez-headed Arsenal. A lot will be hinging upon this game for both the teams. Liverpool have to show that the result against Bournemouth was a minor blip and an upset while the Hammers will have to raise their game somehow as the future is looking bleak for them and Slaven Bilic.
PREDICTED LIVERPOOL LINE-UP VS WEST HAM UNITED (4-3-3)
DEFENCE
Loris Karius has come under the scanner after his major goof up against Bournemouth. He was signed to bring an air of composure and security between the sticks but till now hasn’t justified that decision. He will hope for an easier outing against the Hammers. Nathaniel Clyne will be at right back and will come up against Dimitri Payet, who despite looking disinterested at times, can up with a piece of magic any moment in the match. After the defensive horror-show last week, Liverpool would want Matip to get fit and partner Lovren at the heart of defence. Moreno and Milner will compete for a spot at left-back.
MIDFIELD
Henderson will again sit at the base of a three-man midfield and look to continue his impressive displays. Wijnaldum was probably the best player on the pitch for Liverpool last weekend and is likely to retain his place alongside Can in the midfield.
ATTACK
With Coutinho injured, Firmino will most likely start on the left-hand side with Origi continuing to lead the line. With question marks over Mane’s availability, Lallana is likely to deputise further up the pitch on the right-wing.
