Aston Villa faced off against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a win on their travels. The Villans made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 27th minute when Pierre-Emile Højbjerg found the back of the net for Spurs. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men defended their lead well and went into the half-time interval 1-0 up on the scoreline.
The visitors finally found the leveler in the 67th minute when Ollie Watkins got his name on the scoresheet. However, Matt Targett scored an unfortunate own goal just four minutes later as the Villans ended up suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat away at the English capital.
