Aston Villa faced off against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a win on their travels. The Villans made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 27th minute when Pierre-Emile Højbjerg found the back of the net for Spurs. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men defended their lead well and went into the half-time interval 1-0 up on the scoreline.
The visitors finally found the leveler in the 67th minute when Ollie Watkins got his name on the scoresheet. However, Matt Targett scored an unfortunate own goal just four minutes later as the Villans ended up suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat away at the English capital.
Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the match against Spurs.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 6.5/10
Konsa was defensively solid and had a few bright moments in the opposition half.
CB: Kortney Hause – 6.5/10

RM: Matty Cash – 6/10

CM: John McGinn – 7/10
He worked his socks off at both ends of the pitch and managed to cause a few problems for the Spurs defenders.
CM: Douglas Luiz – 7/10
The Brazilian midfielder tried his best to protect his backline by getting stuck in with a few tackles.
CM: Jacob Ramsey – 6/10
Ramsey struggled to get a foothold in the game and got replaced after the hour mark.
LM: Matt Targett – 5.5/10
Targett created two key chances in the final third but scored an unfortunate own goal which ended up costing his side a point.
ST: Danny Ings – 6/10
