Aston Villa faced off against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a win on their travels. The Villans made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 27th minute when Pierre-Emile Højbjerg found the back of the net for Spurs. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men defended their lead well and went into the half-time interval 1-0 up on the scoreline.

The visitors finally found the leveler in the 67th minute when Ollie Watkins got his name on the scoresheet. However, Matt Targett scored an unfortunate own goal just four minutes later as the Villans ended up suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat away at the English capital.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player performed during the match against Spurs.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 7/10

The Villans keeper pulled off a few good saves to keep the opposition frustrated. However, he still ended up conceding a couple of goals during the game.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 6.5/10

Konsa was defensively solid and had a few bright moments in the opposition half.

CB: Kortney Hause – 6.5/10

He won the ball back a few times for his team but won’t be pleased after conceding two goals today.

CB: Tyrone Mings – 7/10

Mings kept a solid defensive shape inside his half and won plenty of aerial duels in the air.
