West Ham United entertained Brentford at the London Stadium earlier today as they looked to pick up all three points at home. The Hammers were a bit lackluster in the first half and conceded the opening goal in the 20th minute when Bryan Mbeumo found the back of the net for the Bees.
The East London club finally managed to equalize in the 80th minute via Jarrod Bowen’s goal. However, there was a twist in the tale as Yoane Wissa scored a dramatic goal in injury-time. The match finished with West Ham suffering a 2-1 loss in front of their home supporters.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham player performed during the match against the Bees.
GK: Łukasz Fabiański – 7/10
The Polish keeper made a few good saves but still ended up shipping in two goals during the game.
RB: Vladimír Coufal – 6/10
Coufal was quite lively in the opposition half but probably should have kept a more solid shape at the back.
CB: Kurt Zouma – 6/10
The French centre-half made some important clearances during the game but won’t be happy after conceding two goals today.
CB: Angelo Ogbonna – 6.5/10
The Italian defender was a rock at the back as he won plenty of aerial duels during the game. Still, his efforts were not enough for West Ham to get anything out of this game.
LB: Aaron Cresswell – 7/10
Cresswell made a couple of crucial contributions at the back and created some decent chances for his teammates to score.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 6.5/10
Soucek tried his best to anchor the midfield and picked up an assist for setting up Bowen’s goal.
CM: Declan Rice – 6.5/10
The England international made life difficult for the opposition in midfield but failed to influence the game in the final third.
RW: Jarrod Bowen – 7.5/10
Bowen worked hard down the right flank and was a constant menace for the Brentford defenders. He scored a deserved goal in the second half to equalise for West Ham but it was not enough in the end.
CAM: Said Benrahma – 7/10
He was always willing to have a shot at goal but did not have his shooting boots on in the final third.
LW: Pablo Fornals – 6/10
Fornals had a few shot attempts but never looked like he had a goal in him. Defensively, he got stuck in with a few tackles.
ST: Michail Antonio – 7/10
The English striker created all kinds of problems for the Brentford defenders. He did everything but score today.
